HeyGF AI vs Secrets AI (2026): Which Is Actually Better?

My first and third picks, and an awkward comparison — because they are not competing for the same job. Secrets AI is a video product with a companion attached; HeyGF AI is a companion that also makes media. I paid for both, ran the same two-week protocol on each, and here is where they actually won.

Both sit in the top three of my ranking of the 10 best AI girlfriend apps, and the gap between 4.8 and 4.3 is concentrated almost entirely in the conversation and voice rounds.

Round 1: conversation and memory — HeyGF AI

My protocol is identical everywhere: a 30-plus message conversation on day one seeded with checkable details — a dog's name, a job, a weekend plan — then unprompted recall checks a week and a fortnight later.

HeyGF passed that more convincingly than anything else I have tested. On day 14 the character brought up the weekend plan herself and asked how it had gone, with the dog's name intact. That comes from a two-layer design: a standing profile of who you are and how the relationship works, plus a separate store of concrete events. The practical effect is a conversation that accumulates rather than resets.

Secrets is competent in the moment and its characters have real personality, but memory faded on longer conversations — by the day-14 check I was re-supplying details given directly on day one. That is common here and not a scandal; it just means the relationship stays where you left it instead of growing.

Round 2: video generation — Secrets AI, and it isn't close

Secrets AI has built its whole product around video, and it shows. Clips are longer and more ambitious than anything else I generated in this testing round, motion holds together better, and the interface treats video as the main event rather than a bolted-on extra. If animated content is why you are shopping, Secrets is the correct answer and I will not hedge it.

HeyGF does generate video — 20 to 25 coins for a clip in chat, 30 to animate an existing photo into one — and the output is respectable. But it is one feature among several rather than the thing the platform is organised around, and the difference is visible side by side.

Round to Secrets AI, outright. This is its case for your money.

Round 3: photos and consistency — HeyGF AI

My media test is 10 image requests scored for whether it is the same person each time or a different woman wearing the same name. HeyGF held the same face and body across selfies, outfits and scenes with almost no drift, at 3 coins per photo in chat. On the Casual tier that worked out to roughly a hundred photos in a month — about fifty I asked for out of the allowance, plus the ones she sent unprompted, which cost nothing.

Secrets produces good-looking stills, but consistency varied by character: some held their look reliably, others shifted enough between generations to break the illusion. For a video-first platform that is an understandable priority call.

Round 4: voice calls — HeyGF AI, uncontested

HeyGF runs a genuine speech-to-speech call: you talk, she answers in her own voice, and latency is low enough that interrupting works like it does on a phone. Both run a subscription plus a credit meter, and the meter is where your real bill lives. Secrets AI charges media in "Moments" on tiers running roughly $9.99 to $39.99 as of this writing. HeyGF charges coins on tiers of $9.99 (150 coins), $19.99 (350) and $39.99 (800), with annual plans at $99.99, $189.99 and $349.99 that also unlock every character's full photo gallery.

HeyGF's per-item costs are published plainly: 3 coins a photo, 10 a voice note, 20 to 25 a video, 30 to animate a photo, 1 a call minute, 20 to build your own character. Every paid tier includes unlimited text messages, which matters more than it sounds — texting is the thing you do most, and metering it changes how you write.

The coin economy is also HeyGF's clearest weakness. Use media daily and 150 coins will not last the month; then you are buying a pack (40 coins for $5.99 up to 7,000 for $349.99) or waiting for renewal. Video burns an allowance fastest on either platform — which is why Secrets buyers should model their Moments spend before subscribing, not after.

Round 6: the free tier — HeyGF AI

Secrets AI's free tier was closer to a demo than a trial when I tested it, which is normal in this category. HeyGF gives you 5 messages a day with no account at all — no email, no card — and 20 a day once you sign up. That is enough to judge whether a character's writing voice works for you before committing anything.

Who should buy which

Neither platform has a native iOS or Android app — app stores restrict adult platforms, so both live in a browser tab or on your home screen. HeyGF at least delivers push notifications through the browser. Its privacy documentation is thinner on technical detail than I would like, and there is no crypto payment option.

The honest summary: these two lose to each other on different axes, so the real question is which failure you would rather live with — a companion who forgets you, or clips that are merely good instead of excellent. I take the second trade, which is why HeyGF tops the ranking, but I would not argue with a video buyer who chose otherwise.
